Ministerial Conference Aims To Raise Agricultural Productivity To Reduce Hunger
Last June, USDA
brought together more than a hundred ministers from around the world to learn
about the potential and promise of agricultural science and technology for
developing countries.

Export Sales Reporting Program Turns 30!
Begun in 1973 in
response to unexpected large grain purchases, this program has provided a
constant stream of information on U.S. agricultural commodity sales and exports.
The data can be used to access the demand for relative and position of U.S.
commodities in foreign markets.
Italian
Mills Spin a Good Yarn-of U.S. Pima Cotton
Though sales of this
luxury type of cotton are down, a major recovery is in the works for the textile
mills of northern Italy.

Glimmer of Market Change in Egypt?
Trade barriers remain, but Egypt's
newly floating pound and streamlined import process may be harbingers of an
import process.
U.S.
Mackerel Exports on the Rise In Nigeria and Eastern Europe
Consumers
in Nigeria, Bulgaria and Romania have a big appetite for U.S. Atlantic mackerel,
and U.S. suppliers are able to satisfy their taste, thanks to abundant supplies
and competitive prices.
