Partners for Half a Century:
Soy Week in Japan

August 2006 marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the American Soybean Association’s market development office in Japan. Farmer leaders and staff of the U.S. soybean industry marked half a century of successful partnership, and helped lay the groundwork for the future, with a series of activities with Japanese oilseed industry and government officials and FAS country staff.

United States Seeded Tops Among Japan’s Foreign Suppliers of Planting Seeds
In calendar year 2005, by any yardstick the United States came tops among Japan’s foreign suppliers of planting seeds, ranking No. 1 by volume (16,351 metric tons), value ($33.19 million), and market share by value (26.2 percent).
